Terms of Use for WordHop
These Terms of Use are the end user licence agreement (EULA) for WordHop. They incorporate Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement. WordHop is intended to be downloaded and paid for by an adult. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to read these Terms and agree to them on your behalf.
1. Who may agree to these Terms
By downloading or using WordHop you confirm that you are an adult, or that a parent or legal guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf and permits the child's use of the app. Purchases must be made by the Apple Account holder.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use WordHop on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service and Apple's Standard EULA. The licence covers use by the children in your household or, for an education purchase, the pupils in your care.
You may not copy, redistribute, sell, rent, sub-licence, reverse-engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the app, or extract its lesson content for republication, except to the extent that this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
3. Relationship to Apple's Standard EULA
Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement applies to WordHop and is incorporated by reference. Where these Terms give you more than Apple's Standard EULA, these Terms apply; where they conflict with the App Store Terms of Service, the App Store Terms of Service prevail.
This agreement is between you and zcode, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for WordHop or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
4. Purchases
WordHop is free to download and includes a free portion of the course. The full course can be unlocked in two ways:
| Purchase | Product identifier | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Lifetime unlock | com.zcode.wordhop.lifetime | One-time purchase, does not renew |
| Yearly access | com.zcode.wordhop.yearly | Auto-renewable subscription, 1 year |
Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm any purchase and vary by territory. Both purchases support Family Sharing where enabled.
4.1 Parental gate
Purchase screens, settings and any external link are placed behind a parental gate — a short question a young child is not expected to answer. This is a safeguard, not a security guarantee. We recommend that you also use Apple's Screen Time settings to require a password for all purchases.
4.2 Lifetime unlock
The Lifetime unlock is a one-time, non-consumable purchase. It does not renew and is never billed again. It unlocks the full course as published for the app on the platform, for as long as you use the app on your Apple Account.
4.3 Automatic renewal of the yearly subscription
The yearly subscription renews automatically. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. It renews automatically for a further year unless automatic renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
4.4 Free trial
Where a free trial is offered on the yearly subscription, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited if you buy the Lifetime unlock during it. Unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the trial converts automatically into a paid yearly subscription at the standard price.
4.5 How to cancel
You can turn off automatic renewal at any time in your Apple Account settings:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions.
- Select WordHop and choose Cancel Subscription.
You can also manage subscriptions at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the period already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — you must cancel through Apple. The Lifetime unlock needs no cancellation because it never renews.
4.6 Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled solely by Apple. We cannot issue refunds and have no access to your payment method or billing records. To request a refund — including for a purchase made by a child without your permission — use reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. Refunds are granted at Apple's discretion under the App Store Terms of Service and any statutory rights you have in your country.
4.7 Restoring purchases
If you reinstall WordHop or move to a new device, use "Restore Purchases" in the app to recover a Lifetime unlock or an active subscription tied to your Apple Account.
5. Educational content
WordHop is a learning aid for English phonics. We have prepared its content with care, but we do not warrant any particular educational outcome, exam result or rate of progress. It is not a substitute for schooling or for professional assessment of a child's learning needs.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to use WordHop only for lawful purposes and not to interfere with its normal operation or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it.
7. Intellectual property
WordHop, including its software, lesson content, sentences, artwork, design and branding, is owned by zcode and protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms grant a licence to use the app; they transfer no ownership.
8. Privacy
Our handling of data is described in the WordHop Privacy Policy. In summary: WordHop collects no personal information from children or adults, contains no ads, analytics or tracking, and makes no network requests.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WordHop is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your country that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, zcode will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising out of use of or inability to use WordHop. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app and its in-app purchases in the 12 months before the claim arose.
11. Termination
This licence continues until terminated. It ends automatically if you fail to comply with these Terms. You may end it at any time by deleting WordHop from your devices. Cancelling a subscription is a separate action, described in section 4.5.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The current version is always published at this address with the "Last updated" date shown above. Material changes affecting an active subscription take effect no earlier than your next renewal. The Lifetime unlock will not be converted into a subscription.
