Privacy Policy for JamDrill

Applies to JamDrill: Daily Chord Practice for iOS (bundle identifier com.zcode.jamdrill).

Effective date: 19 August 2026 · Last updated: 19 August 2026

Short version: JamDrill does not collect your personal data. It has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Everything you record in the app — your practice sessions, streaks and progress — is stored only on your own device.

1. Who we are

JamDrill is published by zcode ("we", "us"). If you have a question about this policy or about privacy in JamDrill, contact us at support@zcode.ltd.

2. Personal data we collect

We do not collect any personal data. JamDrill does not ask for, transmit, or store your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise or coarse location, microphone recordings, health data, or any device advertising identifier.

JamDrill contains no user accounts and no sign-in of any kind. You can use every part of the app without identifying yourself to us in any way.

3. Data JamDrill stores on your device

JamDrill saves the following information locally, on your iPhone or iPad only, using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is never transmitted to us and we have no ability to read it:

What is storedWhy
Practice sessions (date, duration, chord progression practised)To show your practice history in the app
Practice streak countTo display your current and longest streak
Chord progressions and theory cards you have worked throughTo track which material you have covered
A local record of your subscription entitlementSo the app knows whether Premium features are unlocked while offline
App settings (for example tempo and metronome preferences)To remember how you like the app configured

This information lives inside the app's private storage area on your device. It is included in your device backups if you have iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups enabled — those backups are controlled by Apple and by you, not by us. Deleting JamDrill from your device deletes this data.

4. Network activity

JamDrill contains no networking code of its own. The app makes no requests to any server operated by us or by any third party. All chord progressions, backing tracks, theory content and audio used by the app are compiled into the app itself and work fully offline.

The only network activity connected with JamDrill is performed by Apple's own operating system on your behalf when you buy, restore or manage a subscription. Those transactions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Apple's handling of that information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not by this one.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

JamDrill is free to download and offers an optional Premium subscription as an auto-renewable in-app purchase:

Purchases are processed by Apple. We never see and never receive your payment details. We do not receive your name, your email address, or your Apple Account identifier. The app only receives from Apple a signed confirmation of whether an active entitlement exists, which it stores locally as described in section 3.

Apple provides us with aggregate, anonymised sales and download reports through App Store Connect. These reports contain totals and territory-level figures; they do not identify individual users and we cannot use them to identify you.

6. Analytics, advertising and tracking

JamDrill contains no analytics software, no advertising software and no tracking software. Specifically:

The app writes diagnostic messages to your device's standard system log while it runs (for example, audio-engine status). These messages stay on your device, are not transmitted to us, and are removed by the system in the normal course of log rotation.

7. Children's privacy

JamDrill is a general-audience music-practice app. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects no personal data at all, no personal information about a child can be collected through it.

8. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR (Europe and the UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California) give you rights to access, correct, delete or export the personal data a company holds about you, and to object to its sale or sharing.

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or erase. You remain in full control of the practice data stored on your device: you can erase all of it at any time by deleting the app, and we cannot access it at any point.

9. Data retention

We retain no personal data, so we have no retention period. Data stored on your device is kept until you delete it or delete the app.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how JamDrill handles data, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above. If a future version of the app ever begins collecting personal data, we will update this policy before that version is released and will describe clearly what is collected and why.
